Alibaug is popular for group trips — friends, families, office groups. Food is reliably where the friction happens.
The predictable problems
Nobody decides. Twelve people, no decision, everyone gets hungry and irritable.
Different needs. A vegan, a fussy eater, two children, someone who wants seafood, someone driving.
Seating. Groups get split across tables and the evening never quite comes together.
Timing. Somebody is always still getting ready.
What actually helps
Decide the day before. One person picks, everyone else agrees in advance.
Call rather than just turning up. Twelve walk-ins is a hard ask anywhere.
Give the real number. Not "about ten". Ten or fourteen is a completely different table.
Flag requirements upfront. Vegetarians, allergies, kids, non-drinkers.
What to check when booking
Can you actually sit together? Is there a menu range wide enough for everyone? Is there a proper zero-proof list for whoever is driving back to Mumbai?
For larger groups
Beyond about ten people it is worth treating it as an event rather than a booking. We do private events and group dining — and if you are a villa group, you do not need to be staying with us.
