Alibaug Sunset Spots: Where to Watch the Light Go

← Back to the blog

The west-facing coastline means Alibaug gets a proper sunset almost every clear evening. It is the single most reliable pleasure here.

Timing it

Sunset shifts through the year — earlier in winter, later in summer. Check the day's time and aim to be settled 40 minutes before. The best light comes before the sun actually touches the horizon, and people routinely arrive too late.

Where to watch it

Mandwa Beach. Convenient and genuinely good. Close to the jetty, so it works even on a day trip.

Kihim. Quieter, with the light coming through the trees.

Awas. Empty and wide, if you want it to yourself.

From a table. The underrated option — sitting down with a drink beats standing on sand for most people, most evenings.

What to bring

A light layer. It cools quickly once the sun is down, especially in winter.

Making an evening of it

Our best hour is the same as everyone else's. Come for sundowners before the light goes, stay for dinner after — and on Saturdays, live music follows.

Book if it is a weekend in season; the outdoor tables at sunset are the ones everyone wants.
