Alibaug rewards people who plan loosely and eat well. Here is a realistic first day.
Morning: arrive and eat
If you take an early ferry you will be at Mandwa by mid-morning. Do not push straight to the beach on an empty stomach — the sun is already strong by then.
NOVU is a two-minute drive from the jetty and opens at 8:30am. Breakfast runs to noon: eggs, avocado toast, fresh brews, tropical fruit.
Midday: settle in, then swim
Check into your villa or hotel, then head out. Late morning to early afternoon is good for the water; the light is harsh for photos but the sea is calm.
Afternoon: the mistake to avoid
The two things first-timers get wrong:
Underestimating the heat. Alibaug is humid. Plan an indoor or shaded gap between roughly 1pm and 3pm.
Assuming everything stays open. Many places in Alibaug close between lunch and dinner. NOVU runs all day without a break — worth knowing when you are hungry at 4pm and everything else is shut.
Evening: sundowners
The stretch before sunset is the best hour of the day here. Come for a cocktail as the light goes — and if it is a Saturday, live music starts later in the evening.
