Alibaug is an early town. This surprises people arriving on a late boat.
The problem
Many kitchens here wind down by 9pm, some earlier midweek and off-season. If you land at 8pm, drop bags at a villa, and then think about dinner, you can find yourself out of options quickly.
Plan for it
Check kitchen closing times, not opening times. They are what actually matter for a late arrival.
Call ahead if you are running late. Ferries slip. Most places will hold a table if you tell them.
Eat before you settle in. The classic mistake is going to the villa first "just to freshen up" and emerging at 9:30pm to find everything shut.
Where we fit
Our kitchen runs to 11pm, every day. If you are coming off a late ferry, we are two minutes from Mandwa Jetty — you can eat before you do anything else.
What suits a late dinner
Something not too heavy at that hour. Grilled fish rather than a full curry spread. And if you have been travelling since morning, a cocktail first is entirely reasonable.
