Birthdays in Alibaug work well — you get the occasion and a change of scene in one. A few things to sort out first.
Work backwards from the ferry
The single biggest planning mistake is forgetting that guests have to get home. Last ferry timings decide your dinner slot, not the other way around.
If people are staying overnight, this stops mattering and the evening can run long.
Confirm the numbers properly
"Around fifteen people" is not a number a kitchen can plan for. Get a real headcount a few days ahead, and flag:
- vegetarians and vegans
- allergies
- anyone not drinking
- children, and how many
Ask about the actual space
For a group, layout matters more than menu. Can you sit together? Is it open-air (and is there cover if it rains)? Where does the cake go?
We do private events and group bookings and it is worth talking through the specifics rather than just reserving a table.
Do not forget the non-drinkers
Somebody is driving back. A proper zero-proof list means they are not stuck with a soft drink all evening.
Kids
If it is a family birthday, check there is a kids menu and room for children to not sit still for three hours.
