Eating out with children on holiday is either easy or a disaster, and the difference is usually the venue rather than the kids.
What actually matters
Space. Cramped tables are the main problem. Children need somewhere to be that is not on your lap.
Speed, when it counts. A hungry four-year-old cannot wait forty minutes. Getting something to the table quickly matters more than getting everything at once.
Food they will genuinely eat. A "kids menu" that is one bowl of plain pasta is not really a kids menu.
Tolerance. Some places clearly wish you had come without children. You can feel it immediately.
What we do
NOVU is open-air with room to move, and built to be family-friendly rather than merely permitting children.
The kids menu covers mini pancakes, cheesy pasta, grilled chicken strips and fruit smoothies — sized for children and priced sensibly.
Timing advice
Eat earlier than you would without kids. Noon rather than 1:30pm, 7pm rather than 9pm. You get a calmer room and faster service, and everyone has a better time.
The all-day advantage
Children get hungry on their own schedule. Because we run 8:30am to 11pm without an afternoon break, a 4pm meltdown is solvable.
