Alibaug has several beaches, and they are genuinely different from each other.
Mandwa
Right by the jetty. Convenient rather than spectacular, but the sunsets are good and it is where you already are when you arrive.
Alibaug Beach
The main town beach. Busier, with Kolaba Fort walkable at low tide directly from it. Good for the fort, less good if you want quiet.
Kihim
Quieter, greener, more birdlife. A short drive north. The choice if the main beach is too crowded.
Awas
Quieter still. Long and open, with very little development. Come here to walk rather than to swim.
Nagaon
Popular, with more activity — watersports and food stalls. Livelier, and busier at weekends.
Practical notes
Swimming is not always safe. Currents vary and monsoon makes much of the coast unsuitable. Ask locally rather than assuming.
Sunset is the main event. Almost any of these beaches is at its best in the last hour of light.
Distances add up. Driving between beaches eats your afternoon. Pick one.
Before or after
We are two minutes from Mandwa Jetty, open 8:30am to 11pm — which makes us either the stop before you head out, or the sundowner after.
